The implementation of the Kysucká highway is getting closer to reality. The National Highway Company has announced a public procurement for the section marked D3, which is located between Žilina, Brodno and Kysucké Nové Mesto. This is one of the plans that highway builders prioritize, mostly because of the unfavorable traffic situation in the region. The freeway on Kysuca allows both cars and some trucks to avoid the existing I/11 road. The new route will make the life of future users much easier, especially during the morning and afternoon rush hours, thus saving travel time.
The decrease in freight traffic will mostly positively affect the residents of Oškerda, Radoľa, Povina and Kysucký Lieskovec. According to the available analyses, the number of cars near Oškerda may decrease by up to 12,000, and the number of trucks by 6,000, which currently use the I/11 road. In the other settlements, this reduction means about 7,000 cars and about 5,000 trucks per day. The completed D3 section also creates better conditions for the industrial development of the region. Industrial transport infrastructure can also be attractive to logistics centres, industrial parks and other sectors as it increases labor mobility. The construction of the highway network also contributes to the recreational use of the area and the development of tourism.
The third, 11.2-kilometer D3 section, which has just been put out to public procurement, is directly connected to the previous ones: Kysucké Nové Mesto – Oščadnica and Oščadnica – Čadca Bukov, profile 2. The estimated cost of the construction of the third phase is EUR 507.4 million without VAT. The public procurement also includes 16 bridge construction projects, six retaining walls, 16 noise protection walls and a wildlife crossing, i.e. an ecological point. In addition, the route of the I/11 road from the Brodno junction to the Kysuckai gate will be changed. This year is a significant milestone for the Kysuck region. Thanks to the completed sections, Slovakia will have a complete highway connection from Žilina to the Polish border, which will also contribute to fulfilling the international obligations of the Trans-European Transport Network.
